It’s a done deal! The Gary Player guest room changes name and becomes the Jean Van de Velde guest room! No contest at play, simply a tribute to the golf player and to the man.
After a whole week of pure quality time at La Plonplonière with French golfer Jean Van de Velde and his family, the change of name naturally went from an idea to a fact. What better way to honor a true and approachable man with high values than name one of the guest room after him? This type of encounter with a passionate person who enjoys sharing and bonding is exactly why La Plonplonière was created for.
So, South-African golfer Gary Player gives way to Jean Van de Velde, known for having been the first French player in golf history to play at the Ryder Cup.
When they cross path in 1996 during the PGA France in French West Indies, Jean Van de Velde let Jean-Baptiste try his driver. Last September, thanks to Thierry David, ex Chief Editor on Canal+ Golf TV station, who follows Jean-Baptiste on his social medias, the famous French player came to stay at La Plonplonière. He came as the Director of the French Legends Open that took place on the Touquet Golf Resort and took the opportunity to discover the guest house.
Twenty-eight years after a first encounter, two paths crossed again and two passionate men reconnected. Things have come full circle and the newly named guest room boasts even more personality!
